Improving Methane Quality & Stability

At LRI Landfill, installing smartWell devices across 75 gas wells transformed the site's landfill gas management. By utilizing automated wellheads, tuning frequency increased by 93x, from 450 manual adjustments to over 42,000 automated tunes in just three months. This allowed for more opportunities to fine-tune wells and improve methane quality and stability on-site.

In the first three months, we achieved:

  1. A 32.81% rise in methane flow on Apis-equipped wells.

  2. Methane quality increased by 5.67% and variance dropped by 44.36%, meaning the gas collected was higher quality, more stable, and more predictable.


For operations teams, that translates to less manual intervention, more consistent energy output, and a system that largely manages itself, leaving more time for higher-value work in the field.
