Operating in Cold Weather
In late January 2026, two adjacent landfill gas wellfields ran through an eight-day cold snap: a 16°F daily average, a 4°F low, and wind chill down to −18°F. That kind of cold is usually where field hardware fails, with sensors icing over, electronics dropping offline, and operators losing visibility right when the wellfield needs the most attention.
Both sites run Apis units at 26 monitoring points across the inlet, header lines, crossovers, and pumphouse. Every device sampled on schedule for the entire cold snap, with 100% uptime. Operators had full visibility of both wellfields through the coldest stretch of the winter and made no field trips to thaw or reset hardware.

Apis hardware is built for landfills, and our hardware has performed reliably at ambient temperatures down to −10°F across multiple installations. See our case study below for more information on how we operate in cold weather.
